Dark Stag is a range of superior Barbering equipment including scissors, razors and styling products

Unique to Dark Stag, this Straight-Handled Razor uses regular double-edge razor blades, meaning you can choose your favourite brand. With one edge used per client, it provides the most cost effective route to a perfect shave. The spring-mounted one touch blade-holding mechanism can be opened easily for cleaning and disinfecting. Changing the blade takes just two seconds; simply pinch the head to remove the used blade and pop in the replacement. The head offers 1mm blade clearance. This is the black edition created following barber demand.

  • Two second blade change
  • Uses half a standard double-edge blade for fantastic economy
  • Perfectly balanced
  • Supplied with leather pouch
  • Sandblasted finish for increased durability
  • 1mm blade exposure

We cast the razor in the exact design of the traditional Kamisori blade, a homage to the 800+ years of traditional Japanese barbering history. Without the western scales, this design is nimble and free from obstruction, making it perfect for shaping, styling, and shaving your customers’ (or your own) beards and moustaches.

One of the most common issues with replaceable blade razors, shavettes, is that the blade can become stuck or difficult to remove when wet. Which when shaving someone can mean every time. To combat this we added a secondary system for removing the blade, which involves simply sliding the top cover off and taking the blade out. This is perfect for a deeper clean at the end of the day, or between shaves.

With one edge used per client, this provides the most cost-effective route to a perfect shave. The spring-mounted one-touch blade holding mechanism is easy for cleaning and disinfecting. Changing the blade takes two seconds: pinch the head to drop out the used blade and pop in the replacement. The fastest blade change on the market!

The Kamisori is perfectly fine for use with disinfecting agents. The handle is made with the Dark Stag synthetic rubber compound, perfect for maintaining grip, even in wet environments.

What is a Kamisori?

What is a Kamisori Razor exactly? The Kamisori dates back to more than eight hundred years ago. Used by Buddhist monks to shave their heads, a symbol of the Buddhist faith. The most glaringly obvious difference between eastern razors and western razors is the lack of scales (handle) for the blade to fold into. This can make storing them and their portability a bit of an issue – hence the high-quality leather pouch we supply with every Kamisori we sell. The blade of a Kamisori is traditionally also shorter; an authentic example never exceeds two inches. Uniquely shaped for more effective sharpening.

As the Japanese borders gradually opened to the rest of the world, western-style razors were introduced to the masses. This has not majorly impacted the sale of razors there though… the Kamisori is still the most preferred shaving tool in Japan today.
